High Performance Robotics is an Aberdeen-based subsea robotics company specialising in cost-efficient inspection, intervention, and repair services for the offshore energy sector.
Refounding
Before securing investment from Ventex Studio, HPR was a focused, independent operator servicing exclusively the North Sea oil and gas sector. Its operations were rooted in Aberdeen, where the company built a strong reputation for technical excellence, rapid deployment, and tailored solutions for complex offshore challenges.
However, it was struggling to diversify because the political environment has made it challenging for oil and gas supply chain companies to access the capital they need to invest in the skills and technology needed to serve new clients in renewable energy.
Repurposing
Following investment by Ventex, HPR has expanded its expertise from the oil and gas sector to the utilities, nuclear and offshore wind markets, while also extending its reach to an international scale. Notably, HPR contributed to the Dogger Bank project, the world's largest offshore wind farm.
HPR's innovative use of miniaturised robotics and advanced imaging technologies, such as 360-degree and stereoscopic cameras, allows for the creation of detailed point cloud datasets and virtual environments, enhancing the efficiency and safety of subsea operations.
Results
Over the past 12-months, HPR has doubled its turnover to £2 million and expanded its fleet and team, attracting a number of significant new clients to its forward order book.
The business is now well-positioned to take advantage of opportunities in the nascent offshore wind inspection market by offering a low-cost, high-precision alternative to traditional inspection methods.
